Ever hear a sermon, read an article or see something that made you think "oh, so-and-so needs to hear/see this!"
and then find out the Holy Spirit was talking to you?
I have this bookmark that says "Heed His Call" and the verse: "I know, O Lord, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for a man to direct his steps." Jeremiah 10:33 and thought of someone right off the bat (and perhaps the Lord has this in mind too...) but as is the case more often than naught, the Spirit was laying that on my heart for me to reflect on. What am I holding back? What don't I quite trust Him with?
Man has long since tried to ponder the purpose of his exsistence: Why am I here? There are tons of books on the subject and many of them point toward a self-centered ideal; live my dreams, fulfill my goals, do what makes me happy. But that wouldn't really asnwer the question. Why would their be humans at all if the only purpose was to eat, drink and be merry? And what is the point of salvation if to only say "hey, thanks God" and then hope He blesses what we decide to do that we think will make us happy? No, I believe we have a much higher purpose on this earth, this temporary land on which we live on. God's mercy & grace saved us and He created us for a reason and it's more than to experience the passing milestones of life; marriage, birth, death, graduation, promotions, and yes, even bowling. (though I am convinced thunder is really God getting a strike in heaven)
Man, I know just the right person who should have that bookmark..... :)
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
