1. COOL ~~ classic word to express ones a liking of what was just said or done
2. LOL ~~ a filler when you don't know what else to say in a text or instant message
3. CUSSING ~~ an immature and disrespectful to God way of expressing your anger or displeasure about a person, place or thing because you can't verbalize your thoughts using any of the countless vocabulary words available to you
4. WHATCHAMACALLIT ~~ a generic word used by women (and understood by other women, their offspring & highly evolved men) to describe something when the actual word has slipped out of their brain through their ear canal
5.THINGAMABOB~~ cousin to #4, a generic word used by women (and understood by mechanics) to describe the part of the car that is making that awful noise
6. SCANTILY DRESSED~~ how a protective dad will view the bulky turtleneck, loose fitting jeans & long coat his beautiful daughter is wearing out on her first date.
7. NI ~~ something knights in the deep forrest will say until you give them a beautiful shrubbery
8. WICKED GOOD~~ in Maine a way of expressing that a person, place of thing is more than good, it is fabulously, incredibly or fantastically good (or an oxymoron for the other 49 states)
9. BANGING YOUR HEAD AGAINST THE WALL~~ a phrase to express the immense frustration you have over someone not willing to listen to your incredibly wise advice. (although I don't suggest actually performing this act as you will need half a bottle of aleve, a long nap and some sheetrock to repair the damage. not worth it)
10. CHOCOLATE ~~ a preparation of the seeds of cacao, roasted, husked, and ground, often sweetened and flavored; candy often made from said preperation or put more simply: HEAVEN.
11. BRISK OUTSIDE~~ in Maine it's 35 degrees with 20 mph winds; you might want to put pants on but a sweater is optional (in Florida you are covered from head to toe in layers of warm clothing & refer to this day in years to come as "The Big Freeze of 09'")
12. UP THE ROAD A PIECE~~ this depends on what mode of transportation you have; if in a car, you'll listen to half of of your favorite cd & then should see it coming up on your right, after the big white house with the broken shutters but before old man johnson's farm. if walking, here's hoping you had a big wheaties fueled breakfast.
13. COOL CAT~~ a phrase from the 50's meaning a guy who ooozed coolness (or in my case when you pull a prank on your Mom by putting the cat in the fridge so you can scare her half to death when she opens it but she doesn't go to the kitchen as quickly as you thought and you sorta forget about fluffy)
14. BLOGGING~~ giving the whole world permission to read online what use to be written in a pink book with lock and key and stuffed under your mattress and when your brother found it, read it, made copies & handed it out to everyone at school, he was then grounded for a month and couldn't take his girlfriend to the prom so she broke up with him and went with someone else thereby ruining his life.
15. SODER~~ this is a bostonian's way of saying sorry to the letter R for removing it from all those words, so we add it back in hopes it will forgive us.

the longest I've stayed in a hospital is .... 10 days! horrible. I had a kidney infection that wouldn't respond to medicine, but once I was admitted, I felt fine after 2 days. 8 days in a hospital when I felt fine. :(
a nurse taking care of me might whisper as they leave the room ... well let's just say they are MOTIVATED to seeing me get well and go home! :) I am not a good patient.
at the doctor's, I'm afraid of .... for the longest time..an ekg machine! they don't even hurt..but I was freaked out about them for the longest time.
Y IS FOR YEAR:
...I realized I was an adult .... 1998, the year I turned 30
...I'd like to forget .... 2000, Daddy Sutton died, then-hubby in jail, etc.
...I wish I could go back to .... I'd like to say 1999, the year I met my hubby and do things differently but I believe everything happens for a reason. I wouldn't be who I am now...
...I wish I was born in ..... 1930, I know I am weird but I think it would have been fascinating to be around during the Great Depression, WWII, Elvis, Martin Luther King freedom walk, etc.
Z IS FOR ZZZZZZ'S:
I can't fall asleep without ..... a fan on (the sound soothes me)
as a child I would wake up if .... my mom got afraid of thundar
in my dreams I am often ..... being terrorized (but I survive)
the longest I've stayed awake is .... 36 hours (Titanic Exhibit..too excited to sleep). though I have gone for months with 3 or 4 hours per night after taking twice that long to get to sleep.

Romans 12:10
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. (Romans 12:10)
13 words but what do the mean?
I looked up some key words in the dictionary as they would apply to this verse...........
Be devoted (zealous or ardent in attachment, loyalty, or affection; To give one's time, attention, or self entirely to a particular person) to one another in brotherly love (befitting a brother; affectionate and loyal; a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection). Honor (to hold in high respect; revere) one another above (to a higher place) yourselves.
Wow...How do I do that?
For the next 13 days (13 words, 13 days & aint it cool there are 13 days left in the month?!) I am going to pray upon this verse and ask God to show me what He means by these words. How do I show this kind of devotion & honor towards my brothers/sisters?
I am excited to focus on this one verse and see what He wants to show me.....

Who's Your Daddy?

I love how God reassures me...
The other day a random conversation brought up painful feelings of being fatherless, unloved & unwanted. After my mom's divorce, she removed my step-father's name from my birth certificate. Although I have been blessed with 2 wonderful step-dad's, every time I have had to see that document I have always felt this sense of being unworthy of a lifelong Dad. It was like my value was diminished with the removal of a father's name.
I struggled with these feelings last night & read several scriptures that I tried to meditate on: Romans 8:16, John 1:12 & 1 John 3:1, which all talk about being children of God. The words didn't seem to penetrate my hurting heart though.
Today I served in nursery and my darling Audrey was in a snuggly mood. For 45 glorious minutes I held her as she fell asleep in my arms. (There is no feeling that is more pure joy than this, I am convinced it will be part of our daily routine when we are in heaven)
Then my Spirit nudged me....and I thought of how God does that with us...we are invited to snuggle into His arms and fall asleep, secure in His love. We don't outgrow His lap; He never says no & I think He has the same feeling of joy holding us as I did Audrey. What Glory to know this! (O, Holy Spirit, remind me of this the next time I feel fatherless)
No matter who is listed on my birth certificate, my Father in heaven has claimed me as His daughter.
"The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children." (Romans 8:16)
Indeed He did.

Heed His Call
Ever hear a sermon, read an article or see something that made you think "oh, so-and-so needs to hear/see this!"
and then find out the Holy Spirit was talking to you?
I have this bookmark that says "Heed His Call" and the verse: "I know, O Lord, that a man's life is not his own; it is not for a man to direct his steps." Jeremiah 10:33 and thought of someone right off the bat (and perhaps the Lord has this in mind too...) but as is the case more often than naught, the Spirit was laying that on my heart for me to reflect on. What am I holding back? What don't I quite trust Him with?
Man has long since tried to ponder the purpose of his exsistence: Why am I here? There are tons of books on the subject and many of them point toward a self-centered ideal; live my dreams, fulfill my goals, do what makes me happy. But that wouldn't really asnwer the question. Why would their be humans at all if the only purpose was to eat, drink and be merry? And what is the point of salvation if to only say "hey, thanks God" and then hope He blesses what we decide to do that we think will make us happy? No, I believe we have a much higher purpose on this earth, this temporary land on which we live on. God's mercy & grace saved us and He created us for a reason and it's more than to experience the passing milestones of life; marriage, birth, death, graduation, promotions, and yes, even bowling. (though I am convinced thunder is really God getting a strike in heaven)
Man, I know just the right person who should have that bookmark..... :)
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

Computers+Frustration=Wisdom
My computer needed a time out today.
It has been fussy for a few weeks and I have tried everything to make it behave~finally I needed to do a system recovery. It wiped out my hard drive and I had to reboot through several updates and re-download EVERYTHING. Sigh.
This reminded me of how God has to do that now and again to me. He cleans out all the junk I have accumulated over time & I am running smooth once again. So tonight I reflected on the past year.....
Temporary Folder: wantingwhaticannothave.dll, thinkingiknowwhatisbestforothers.exe, painfulmemories.dll, bitterness.dll, needtocontroll.exe, lackoftrustingHim.dll, worryandregrets.dll, ANGER.exe
Status update: DELETED in God's recovery
